In diesem Gloassar versuchen wir komplexe Begriffe aus der SAP Welt in einfacher und verständlicher Sprache zu beschreiben.

  1. ABAP Test Cockpit (as transaction ATC)

    ABAP Test Cockpit  is a framework build upon Code Inspector Checks (->Code Inspector, SCI) which introduces the possibility of strict blocking behavior in case of high priority SCI errors and establishes a comprehensive workflow for possible «Exceptions» by the Quality Manager. The results of the ATC checks are shown in the ChaRM assignment block «Transport Related Checks». 

  2. Adobe Document Services (ADS)

    ADS is an extenstion which can be installed only on AS Java. It generates forms that are based on Adobe LifeCycle Designer and business data information what is provided by applications (ABAP Web Dynpro). 

  3. Automated Testing

    Test automation can be understood as a procedure, based on analysis software tools, with the support of which the software tests are performed automatically. The declared goal is to shorten the development processes through automation and thus also to increase the quality of the software. Test automation is often combined with Agile methods. 

  4. ABAP Short Dump

    Runtime error that occurs when SAP system is no longer able to execute given program. This may be caused by resource or system problem, error in coding, unhandled or unhandleable exception. 

  5. ACDOCA 

    ACDOCA is a table which stores Universal Journal Entry Line Items related to finance. Including all prosperity metrics: Economic contribution, Financial Investment Contribution, Research and Development Expenses, Total Tax Paid etc. The ACDOCA Table helps to keep Reports and tables in one database, and it does not need to store balanced and open items separately. 

  6. Business Service Management (BSM)

    An application in SAP Cloud ALM that is used to manage business services, assigned cloud services, and related events. 

  7. Business Technology Platform (BTP)

    The SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) represents the Technology layer of the intelligent, sustainable enterprise (beside Business processes and Solution areas). It provided functions for AppDev, Automation, Integration, Data and Analytics and AI. 

    Previously, SAP BTP was also known as SAP Cloud Platform. And even earlier as HANA Cloud Platform. 

    On the BTP there is also the famous Cloud foundry service «SAP Cloud ALM» running. 

  8. BAT (Business Acceptance Testing)

    Business Acceptance Testing (sometimes called User Acceptance Testing) seeks to meet business requirements in a specific business scenario against the business case. It plays a vital role in validating, that all the business requirements are fulfilled before releasing the product in the market. 

  9. (Business) Process Management

    Process management deals with the identification, design, documentation, implementation, control and optimization of business processes. Business processes drive IT, that means for companies, a key goal is to make business operations efficient and trouble-free. To achieve this, focusing on business processes is crucial. Managing business processes across the entire lifecycle is at the core of SAP ALM, merging business with IT.  

    However, running business processes is not enough to survive in the digital economy. Proper planning, rp1 

    d implementation of new business processes, and change control are equally important to success. ALM also lets you create what the business needs, when it needs it, and drives both continuous improvement and business innovation.  

    Business processes management creates transparency, enables repeatability and is traceable. Processes create competitive advantages. Processes are elementary. No matter what industry or business you are in, «it should always be about business processes» and IT and business should agree on business processes as a common language. 

  10. Business Transformation Center

    The Business Transformation Center is a set of tools designed to empower legacy ECC customers to more easily transition to S/4HANA. Key features include uploading and analysing existing business data as well as planning the scope of the transition project. BTC is part of SAP Cloud ALM. 

  11. Business Capability Modeling

    Business Capability Modeling in LeanIX supports companies in presenting and analyzing their business capabilities in a structured way in order to create value and achieve goals. 

  12. Business Service 

    A collection of Systems and Services that technically work together for one business purpose. 

  13. BRF+

    BRF+ does not abbreviate Business Rule Framework Plus. It is a comprehensive programming interface that allows you to define business rules. A big advantage is the definition of business rules without using ABAP code. Furthermore, the created business rules can also be integrated into other SAP programs.  

    BRF+ is not new and has no direct connection to SAP S/4HANA, but has gained attention after the release of SAP S/4HANA 1610, as it was introduced as a go-to solution for some business processes. 

  14. Code Inspector (as transaction SCI or check nested in the ABAP editors

    Code Inspector improves custom code quality by checking it for performance, security, robust programming, obsolete ABAB statements, cloud readiness, naming conventions, and so on. The checks are steered by check variants which can be customized. The result of the check variant DEFAULT are shown in the ChaRM assignment block «Transport Related Checks». 

  15. cTMS – Cloud Transport Management System

    Cloud based transport management tool to transport SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) content (development artifacts and application-specific content) between different cloud solutions and accounts. Supports Neo and Cloud Foundry. Adds transparency for the changes (logs), options for separation of duties and unified change management to transport between different systems. 

  16. CTS – Change and Transport System

    In SAP ABAP system the CTS is the automatic recording of changes (development/customizing) into transport requests which move these changes to the productive system following dedicated transport route. 

  17. ConfVal – Configuration Validation

    Tool provided by Solution Manager which allows to determine whether the systems in your landscape are configured consistently and in accordance with your company’s needs/requirements. 

  18. Custom code management

    Custom code management is the central point of access for all functions that you use to monitor and manage the lifecycle of custom developments from creation to deletion. You can continually optimize your developments and configure how they are implemented or affected by changes to SAP objects. 

  19. Change Management

    Change management in IT describes a defined process that introduces enhancements, adjustments and innovations in the company’s IT as optimally as possible. The existing risks are to be minimized and interruptions of the functions are to be avoided. From a strategic point of view, another goal is to further develop and optimize the existing corporate IT. 

  20. Copy of Test Cases

    Implementation – Test Preparation:  

    Now it is possible to copy manual test cases, before there was only the possibility to do an download – create the «new / other» tastcase – upload the content.  

    The copy of the test case is created in the same project and scope.  
    All tags, requirements, or user stories assigned to the original test case are also copied. 

    By default, the title of the copied test case is Copy of <title of the original test case> and the status is In Preparation. 

  21. Cloud Connector

    The Cloud Connector serves as the link between on-demand applications in SAP Business Technology Platform. It is browser-based and existing on on-premise systems. In the Cloud Connector, the subaccount of the ABAP system is connected so that the Cloud Connector can be used within a communication system or destination in the subaccount. It provides an easy setup with a clear configuration of the systems that are exposed to SAP BTP.  

  22. Cross reference

    A cross-reference means that an object required for a successful import is not present in the subset of selected transport requests: For all objects in the transport requests selected via report /SDF/CMO_TR_CHECK via SE38 or transaction /SDF/TRCHECK, the referenced objects are identified by an environment analysis. If the referenced objects are not contained in the transport requests, the versions between the source and target systems are compared. If the versions are different or if the referenced objects are not present in the target system, this is highlighted as a potential error as a result of the report.

    In addition, the last transport requests for the missing object versions are displayed. This check works for ABAP Repository, Data Dictionary, Customizing, SAP Note and BW objects. CDS views are checked as of SAP_BASIS 7.52. Errors in the HANA Deploy step for HOTO and HOTA objects and most errors in the method execution step cannot be predicted.   23. Cloud Foundry

    Cloud Foundry (CF) is an open-source platform-as-a-service (PaaS) technology from Cloud Foundry Foundation. It enables to build, deploy, and manage applications in the cloud without worrying about the underlying infrastructure. SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) is CF runtime service. It can run on any hyperscaler – Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform. 

  24. CCoE / CC

    The SAP Customer Center of Excellence (CCoE) is a certification that SAP customer’s support teams can achieve by reaching both technical and processual certifications. The SAP CCoE team aka as SAP Competence Center (CC) is responsible for maintaining the installed SAP system base in daily operations and maintenance of these. 

  25. Cut-over

    The process/phase within a project before a new release is set productive. In particular the sequence of events needed to be taken to ensure technical and organisational success of the transition. 

  26. CSOL

    CSOL is Cross-System Object Lock that can prevent changes being made to specific object in any other transport request. When object is being changed in a managed system then it is locked in the central SAP Solution Manager System. This applies to all managed systems and clients for which this is activated and prevents version conflicts at an early stage 

  27. C4C

    SAP Cloud for Customer (C4C) is a software as a service (SaaS) cloud platform to manage customer sales, customer service and marketing activities efficiently and is one of the key SAP solutions to manage customer relationships, collaboration, insights and Business Processes. 

  28. CAP

    The SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP) is a framework of programming languages, libraries, and tools for developing enterprise-grade services and applications. Developers are guided along a path of proven best practices and have access to a wealth of out-ofthe-box solutions for recurring tasks. 

  29. DVM – Data Volume Management

    DVM Application in SAP ONE Support Launchpad is a tool that helps you to regularly monitor and analyze your SAP system in terms of any DVM topic which is out there. It helps us to detect Database growth, data retention strategy in  landscape. 

    System analysis is processed by the back-end system which runs behind the app and the result of the process is shown in the application. 

  30. Digital Blueprint Overview

    An application in SAP Cloud ALM that is part of SAP Business Transformation Center. In the application, we can view the technical and business details of digital blueprint. It summarizes the current state of the planned data transformation project with multiple chart views and area-specific dashboards and provides us with hints that we have not yet applied to the current configuration. 

  31. Defect Management

    Defect Management describes the creation and management of defects found during testing or in the application. 

    If a test run fails because of a problem or if a defect is discovered during the use of an application, the defect app can be used to correct and handle the defect. 

  32. Defect Correction

    Defect corrections are used during integration testing and represents a change document to bring transports into the next system. 

    Defect corrections do not need to be approved because the project scope was approved in change transactions at earlier stages of the change cycle. Within Focused Build, Defect Corrections are attached to a Defect. Only when a Defect cannot be resolved without correction a Defect Correction is created. The interaction between Defect and Defect Correction is the key to get a fast Defect resolution time (e.g. also a fast mail sending if the developer or the tester has something to do…). 

  33. Deployment plan

    The deployment plan stands above the project and orchestrates the different go-lives of it.  The deployment plan can be thought of as a train, and each project can be considered a compartment on that train. A deployment plan can serve multiple projects, but a project can only have a maximum of one deployment plan. 

  34. Digital Blueprint

    The digital blueprint is the central repository of technical and business information related to data transformation project. The data in Digital Blueprint comes from underlying analysis file that is uploaded into SAP Cloud ALM, SAP Business Transformation Center application Manage Analysis Files. 

  35. DocuSign

    Description 

    DocuSign is a legally compliant online eSignature tool for contracts and transactional signatures. It’s API allows to integrate with a wide range of tools such as SAP Cloud ALM to enable signature requests on creation, change or deletion of defined entities.  

    Potential Target Audience 

    Customers running validated change environments who need to remain compliant for legal reasons, such as those imposed by the FDA, or GMP methodologies. 

  36. Dynpro

    Dyn(amic) Pro(gram). A unique SAP dialogue technique for the SAP Gui with roots deep into SAP R/2 assembler macros. It consists mainly of three parts: the screen which describes the input/output fields with all their attributes, the actions via menu or buttons and the ABAP modules which are processed at standardised events (PBO: Process Before Output, PAI: Process After Input, plus field and action events). An SAP transaction is usually a sequence of different Dynpros to manipulate business data 

  37. Emarsys Customer Engagement

    SAP Emarsys is a customer engagement solution that empowers marketers to build, launch, and scale real-time, personalized marketing campaigns that grow Customer Lifetime Value with intelligent omnichannel interactions 

  38. Event Situations

    Table in Intelligent Event Processing application in SAP Cloud ALM that shows all event situations and their state. It displays name of the situation and application triggering the event, state of events situation (open, closed, stateless), managed component for which the event is triggered, timestamps for when event was created and when last updated, duration of event situation in minutes, number of events triggered for event situation and triggered actions and log for triggered actions. 

  39. Event Calendar

    A calendar in SAP Cloud ALM Business Service Management application, that displays service-related events. Events can be created manually in application or sent automatically by SAP. Available Event Types are Disruption, Degradation, Maintenance and Communication.   

  40. Evidenz

    Depending on the test case, evidence can be requested at step level or at test case level. The tester is required to document the testresult. Evidenz can be handed over to another Test Case. The system is intelligent and required some Documentation. In principle, all files can be uploaded. The evidence is stored together with the test plan, which ensures future traceability of the test procedure. 

  41. eCATT

    Used and developed by SAP to execute and create functional tests. 

  42. FIT – Functional Integration Test

    Functional integration tests are a phase in the life cycle of software development where it is checked whether the developed application also behaves analogously to the requirements. 

    In simpler terms, the processes of the application are tested under realistic conditions.  

  43. Homogeneous System Copy

    Type of System Copy were the target system will be on the same Operating System and Database as the source system. Database content is transferred from the source system to the target system using a data backup. 

  44. HANA Cockpit

    SAP HANA Cockpit is a central Web-based administration tool for SAP HANA systems, enabling administration, monitoring and maintenance tasks. It is a separate own SAP HANA installation. 

  45. HANA Studio

    SAP HANA Studio is an administration/development tool for SAP HANA systems. It is based on Eclipse platform and is a standalone application. It uses SQL to connect to HANA databases. 

  46. Identity Provisioning (IPS)

    The IPS provides a simple and secure approach to identity lifecycle management in the cloud. It is,  so to speak, the equivalent of on-premise SAP IDM (Identity Management) in the cloud. It enables you to provision and deprovision users and their authorizations for cloudbusiness applications by simply reusing identity data from an existing central user store. The IDM can be connected to the IPS via the so-called System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) API, so you have a leading identity management tool. 

  47. Integration Message Flow

    Integration Message Flow in SAP Cloud ALM is a set of messages between on-premise Systems or Cloud Services connected in Integration & Exception Monitoring  into a Business Service monitoring Scenario. 

  48. Job/Automation Type Event filter parameter0

    Operations- Job & Automation Monitoring – Job/Automation Type Event filter parameter 

     The Event settings section of a service or system now offers a new filter parameter called Job/Automation Type. This parameter allows you to configure event actions, such as receiving email or chat notifications, specifically tailored to the selected job type. 

  49. Jira, SNOW, DevOps, Planner, Monday.com

    «MyKanban» – Unified view across all tasks and platforms.  

    Description  

    «MyKanban» is a tool specifically designed to consolidate all your tasks from different products like Jira, SNOW, DevOps, Planner, Monday.com etc. into a single view. It serves as a unified view to help users see all their pending and ongoing tasks in one place to increase productivity and optimize workflow.  

    Main Features  

    • Integration through APIs: MyKanban can seamlessly connect with a variety of tools and platforms to pull tasks in real time.  
    • Flexible Kanban Design: Users can add additional buckets or categories depending on the needs of their project.  
    • Fast Lane: This special lane is reserved for Prio 1 tasks. Each time such a task is added, it is automatically moved to the Fast Lane to ensure that it receives immediate attention.  
    • Integration with SAP BTP: MyKanban runs on SAP Business Technology Platform, making it a robust and scalable solution for enterprises.  
    • Extension with SAP Cloud ALM:  MyKanban integrates with SAP Cloud ALM to draw ideas from project management and release management. Projects and access rights can be managed here.  
    • Visibility of tasks in SAP Cloud ALM: In addition to displaying tasks from other tools, MyKanban can also display tasks that exist in SAP Cloud ALM.  
    • Optional storage in SAP Cloud ALM: Depending on the business requirements, tasks can be stored in SAP Cloud ALM to take advantage of tracability/analytics features.

  50. Jenkins

    Jenkins is an open-source automation server used to facilitate continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) of software projects. It allows developers to automate the building, testing, and deployment of their applications. 

    Benefits from the integration: 

    • Automated Deployment: Streamline the release of SAP applications using Jenkins› CI/CD pipelines. 
    • Consistency: Ensure every SAP release undergoes the same build and test process, reducing errors.

  51. Manage Analysis Files

    Application in SAP Cloud ALM that is part of SAP Business Transformation Center. In the application, we can upload, save and edit analysis files extracted from the source SAP ECC system. We can review the company codes and transformation objects included in the analysis file, confirm if the analysis file is associated with a digital blueprint and export the analysis file into a spreadsheet. 

  52. Migration Object

    A Migration Object describes how to migrate data to SAP S/4HANA. It contains information about the relevant source and target structures, as well as the relationships between these structures. Furthermore, it contains mapping information for the relevant fields, as well as any rules used to convert values that are migrated from source fields to target fields. 

  53. Message Server

    SAP Message Server is a part of ASCS (ABAP Server Central Services). Each SAP system have only one message server. It is responsible for communication between the application servers and load distribution of logons that use SAP GUI and RFC.  

  54. Modifications

    Changes made to SAP standard code objects. There are 2 types of modifications: Business Modifications are real modifications which are motivated by customer and Technical Modifications which are requested by SAP like SAP Notes. 

  55. Master Data

    Master Data is a central repository of critical data needed by all teams of a business to run their daily tasks. This can include product information, customer data or employees and much more. Master Data is stored centrally as a single source of truth to ensure all entities work with the same dataset. Accordingly, managing the data is of great importance. 

  56. Note

    Official information delivered by SAP. These can be informative, guides or instructions/corrections for known problems/bugs in SAP systems. Notes with automatic corrections can be downloaded and implemented directly to an ABAP system via SNOTE transaction.

  57. Operation Automation

    Operation Automations is a service in SAP Cloud ALM that enables the automation of standard operation and error handling procedures related to the operation of cloud and hybrid landscapes. It integrates with SAP Workflow Management, SAP Automation Pilot or SAP intelligent Robotic Process Automation, which are SAP Cloud BTP services. Workflows, automations or commands triggered from these services are called Operation Flows in the context of SAP Cloud ALM, and based on event, Operation Flows can be triggered from SAP Cloud ALM manually or automatically. In Operation Automation we register or delete our SAP workflows and start workflow instances. 

  58. On-Premise Runner

    New type of Runner on Synthetic User Monitoring application that supports an endpoint accessing to the system through a Cloud Connector connection. This means there is no need to configure on-premise firewall for Runner and it lets us to use existing on-premise assets without exposing the internal landscape. 

  59. Operation Flow

    Operation Flow is a linked activities that serve a goal in Operations Automation application in SAP Cloud ALM. Operation Flows can be automatic or manual. Definition of Operation Flow specifies which activities should be performed, when and under which circumstances. 

  60. OData

    Open Data Protocol, widely used by SAP to expose backend services to an external environment, it can be another side-by-side service or a front end, for example a SAP UI5 Fiori app. The OData  offers metadata describing a collection of entities and standardized CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations. 

  61. Product Footprint Management

    SAP Product Footprint Management is a cloud application integrated into SAP S/4HANA Cloud or SAP S/4HANA system. It allows businesses to measure and manage the bottom-up carbon footprint of individual products from start to beginning by integrating and reusing existing business data to combine it with environmental factors and to calculate the footprints of products periodically and at scale. The application is fully auditable and complies with the GHG protocol. 

  62. Project independend entitites

    In SAP Cloud ALM, documents should not necessarily be tied to a project: documents are created with the project, which are then further processed in a second project or during operation. In addition, several projects should also be selected in the tasks, for example: After all, I want an overview of all my tasks. 

  63. Process Analysis/Mining

    Process mining is a technique that analyzes digital traces from event logs to uncover how business processes actually operate. By visualizing the flow of transactions, it identifies bottlenecks, deviations, and inefficiencies in a process. This insight allows organizations to optimize and improve their operations. 

  64. Preliminary Import

    To accelerate the import process for normal changes, you can request the preliminary import of a normal change into a follow-on system. This means that the import of the transport requests associated with the normal change is carried out at once, independent of any mass import into the follow-on system. 

  65. Piece List

    A Piece List is a list of ABAP transportable objects identified by a key. The Piece List is a source for copy actions: inside a SAP system between differend clients, or as -> Transport Request creating a copy on the file system, which can be later imported into another SAP system. 

  66. Page file

    Enables to use RAM more efficiently if the main memory is near full capacity by writing infreguently used pagecontent to a hard disk leaving more physical memory for frequently used or accessed pages. It is also called Windows virtual memory. 

  67. qRFC

    qRFC: Executes asynchronous communication and also ensures that a defined processing sequence is adhered to becomes. This is a further development of tRFC. 

  68. RBI (Release Batch Import) / BITJ (Batch Import Trigger Job)

    The Release Batch Import (RBI) feature provides a central function to start imports for different system roles and for all different landscapes related to Change Request Management. 

    It is possible to fully consider the status of the corresponding change documents and also define a new status that will be set automatically after a successful import. 

    RBI is part of Focused st and replaces the standard ChaRM Task List Cycle import.  

    Everything is managed centrally in a customizing cluster for the batch import report (Batch Import Trigger Job) and allows the maintenance of different variants for different import requirements.  

    A much appreciated functionality is the ability to test and simulate go-live imports days or weeks before go-live. This allows you to resolve potential transport conflicts before the actual import window and makes for an easier go-live when the time comes. 

  69. Requirements Management

    Requirements management is a subarea of requirements engineering. Requirements management comprises measures for controlling, monitoring and managing requirements: Risk management, change management and implementation management. It is used for the efficient and low-defect development of complicated systems on which work is performed. You can use Focused Build Requirements Management to manage your various Requirements from your Business department and adapt the App for your needs in regards to approvals or custom fields. 

    In SAP Cloud ALM you have also the Entity of requirements you can work with. 

  70. Rule Modeler Profile

    A profile that is used by work package checklist which can assign checklist automatically based on conditions. 

  71. Rücknahmebengel

    Since ancient R2 times inserting a ! (exclamation point) at the first character position of a screen entry field (SAP Gui) empties the complete field at one fell swoop. Frankenword of German «Rücknahme» = withdrawal and «Bengel» = brat, but it recalls the dialectal «Glockenbengel», the clapper of a bell, which indeed looks like a ! upside-down.  

    Addendum Stefan: The term «Rücknahmebengel» is rather a symbol of the error/feedback/trust culture at blueworks in the new era.  

    • Awarded during Celebration Night to the person  
      • who has received the most karma points (negative points count double)  
      • and voted by the team as «most inspiring person» in the last period (currently 6 months at blue.works) 
    • No scientific calculation, but verifiable by the karma ratings as well as the team survey 
    • It is important to focus on the successes and not the failures – this award is not a direct award for a mistake that happened  
    • Where there is a lot of work going on and where new ground is being broken, mistakes will occur and need to be discussed early on 
    • In summary: This award represents that the award recipient exemplifies trying new things and communicating openly when mistakes may occur and is open to advice and feedback. 
  72. Risk Management

    Risk Management should be incorporated as part of project management, like it is with Focused Build  allow project teams to define risks and mitigation strategies for better project steering and controlling. 

  73. Roadmap Viewer

    The Roadmap Viewer is a tool that provides access and detailed guidance to the SAP Activate methodology implementation roadmaps  
    The implementation roadmaps provide end to end procedural guidance to help new and existing SAP Customers navigate through an SAP software implementation.   

  74. Result Attributes

    In a test step, the test results can / must be recorded in the Result Attributes field and passed to other test cases / test steps. The desired fields must be set up in SolMan. Result Attributes can be: Document number, connection object number, system number, … 

  75. Regressiontest

    Selective, time-based repetition of previous tests:  

    • Determine that defects that have already been corrected do not reappear. 
    • Check that no other previous work functions have failed. 
    • check that new transports/changes have not caused new problems 

    This is a quality control measure designed to verify that core processes are functioning according to business requirements and that standard code has not been compromised. This measure is performed in parallel with the SIT. 

  76. Rise with SAP

    Rise with SAP is a subscription-based service offering from SAP launched in 2021. It is called Business Transformation as a Service (BTaaS). It includes multiple SAP products and tools (SAP S/4HANA Cloud; SAP BTP; SAP Business Network; Business Process Intelligent and other supporting tools) into one contract. 

  77. Resource

    SUM application component which handles Selenium IDE (SIDE) files that are containing script. It analyzes file content, and changes test to SUM Script by collecting SUM Specific Annotations. 

  78. Release

    A release is a point in time within the deployment plan. To stay with the train example:  A train always has a timetable with stops along the route. These can be referred to as releases. In other words: The stop is the going-live time of a project. 

  79. Retrofit

    In system landscapes in which work is carried out in several releases simultaneously, similar changes can be made in different development systems. 

    It is then important to regularly synchronize the system statuses to ensure that the changes are synchronized in parallel across system landscapes. This synchronization process is called postprocessing or retrofit. 

  80. Runner

    SUM application component which executes the tests of the scenarios. 

  81. System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM)

    The System for Cross-Domain Identity Management (SCIM) specifications were developed to facilitate identity management in cloud-based applications and services. This API is based on the SCIM protocol (RFC7644). For example, the SCIM API is needed to hook an on-premise SAP IDM and the SAP IPS (LINK TO TERM SAP IPS) on the SAP BTP (LINK TO TERM SAP BTP). 

  82. SAP Readiness Check for SAP Cloud ALM

    The SAP Cloud ALM Readiness Check helps to analyze the current usage of SAP Solution Manager and provides recommendations for equivalent functionalities in SAP Cloud ALM. 

    The goal is to better plan the transition to SAP Solution Manager and to define the scope.  

  83. Supply Chain Management (SCM)

    SCM is used to optimize the organization of supply chains. The aim is to make the supply processes more dynamic and to be able to react more agilely to market changes. 

  84. SUM – Synthetic User Monitoring

    Monitoring Application in SAP Cloud ALM, which provides Proactive detection and Factual Metrics on end users perspective. SUM re-executes same scenarios which allows to monitor the evolution of the performance and availability based on collected metrics. It does so, by executing Selenium scripts which run on Web browser. 

  85. SUM Specific/Variable Annotation

    Description of the Selenium command that Resource component recognizes and collects while Selenium ignores it. SUM Variable Annotations adds possibility to configure thresholds in SUM Application and extra security handling usernames and passwords with Selenium.  

  86. SAP Distance-to-Standard (D2S)

    Approach to evaluate the deviation of an SAP system from the SAP Standard. 

  87. Sustainability Control Tower

    With SAP Sustainability Control Tower, companies can set targets, gain actionable insights into core processes, forecast outcomes, analyze scenarios and trade-offs, report progress, and create role-specific actions to improve sustainability performance. 

    Sustainability Control Tower easily imports cross-enterprise data from SAP systems like SAP S/4HANA, SAP Product Footprint Management, and SAP Environment, Health, and Safety. It also integrates with non-SAP systems using a range of APIs to create audit-ready data.  

  88. SAP PI (Process Integration)

    SAP PI is an integration platform that enables communication and data exchange between different systems and applications within an organization. It is a middleware solution that facilitates seamless integration of various systems, applications, and technologies. 

    SAP Process Integration provides a unified platform for integrating various business processes such as customer relationship management, supply chain management, and financial accounting. It enables communication between different systems regardless of the technology, protocol, or format used. 

    SAP PI is part of the SAP NetWeaver platform and can be used in conjunction with other SAP applications such as SAP ERP, SAP CRM, and SAP SCM. 

  89. Send Chat Notification

    Send Chat Notification is newest feature in SAP Cloud ALM Monitoring Applications.  Alert Processors can trigger chat notifications from Alerting page of any monitoring app manually, or configure through Alerting to send notifications automatically. Connection between External Chat and monitoring Applications are created using webhook that is configured as SAP Cloud ALM Subscription.  

  90. SAP Build Work Zone

    SAP Build Work Zone is a digital service that runs on SAP Business Technology Platform and provides a single point of access to relevant business applications, processes and information. In addition, SAP Build Work Zone enables business users to create and customize enterprise websites through simple drag-and-drop and provides easy-to-use self-services for content creation and page building, combining business data and unstructured content. SAP Cloud ALM provides integration to SAP Build Work Zone. 

  91. SAP Discovery Center

    The SAP (cloud) Discovery Center consists of two parts: Service Catalog and Mission Catalog. The first is the main source of information about all nearly one hundred cloud services SAP offers for consumption on the -> BTP. For every service you get an overview, pricing models, provider and region availability, related missions (see below), the roadmap and some inspiring customer stories. About 60 services are free or have a quota based free tier for easy value discovery. 

    The second part, the nearly 200 missions, offer learning roadmaps instructing about best practices and with a step-by-step guidance, often with hands-on elements; the learning journey is structured by a project board, with additional support offerings by topic experts and SAP Community. 

    Both offer extended filtering and searching functionalities. 

  92. Security Baseline

    Set of rules provided by SAP that can be used with Configuration Validation which shows if your system is secured by SAP standards. It comes in a transport. 

  93. Stored Procedure

    A stored procedure is a prepared SQL code, a subroutine, available for applications that access a database. Stored procedures are a efficient method to centralize logic in the database instead of implementing it in the application. They may return results ad can also contain predefined values for processing data. The main benefit is that a stored procedure, a very simple or a complex one, can be executed by a single call by reducing network traffic and improving round-trip response time. 

  94. SAP Universal ID

    It provides unified account across SAP sites that links all your S-Users to one Universal ID and allows to switch between them as needed. 

  95. Satellite System

    A satellite system is a system which is managed by Solution Manager. It is also called managed System. 

  96. System Refresh

    The process of resetting a SAP system to a pre-determined state. The purpose of this is to establish a common baseline for new developments based on the current project needs in the project landscape. 

  97. SuccessFactors

    In parallel with a large number of applications, SAP offers with SuccessFactors a cloud solution for human resources departments, also named as hire-to-retire (H2R). This covers the core HR applications in detail the personnel data management, payroll management, talent management, recruiting and onboarding, to name just a few. 

  98. SAP Cloud ALM

    SAP Cloud ALM, is a SAP cloud based Application Lifecycle Management tool. It has two main features: Implementations with tools for managing Projects, Changes and Testing; and Operations with different Monitoring applications. It supports cloud services and on-prem systems. 

  99. System Copy

    Creation of a SAP system (also re-creation to refresh data) from an existing SAP system. The SAP instances are installed new (or kept from the previous system) and the target database is copied from the source database. This is a recommended way to create additional test systems. Also used to migrate a SAP system. 

  100. SAP Signavio

    SAP Signavio is a Cloud-based process management platform which enables companies to understand, improve, and tranform their business processes; the day the integration with SAP Cloud ALM will be finally realized it will be the single source of truth, built for continual process transformation 

  101. SAPConnect

    SAPConnect provides a direct connection to the Internet through the SMTP plug-in of the SAP Application Server. This enables to send out and receive e-mails, faxes and text messages. 

  102. SAProuter

    This acts as an proxy in a network connection between your SAP systems and external networks. In addition, if remote access is needed via incident in SAP Support, then SAProuter allows SAP Support to have access to your SAP system(s). 

  103. SAP FSCM

    FSCM = Financial Supply Chain Management 
    The name says it all, this is about finance and supply chains.  

    SAP FSCM is a set of applications that provide better visibility and control of accounts receivable.  

    The focus here is on customer-related financial functions (including invoicing, receivables, collections and risk assessment) that are managed within the SAP ERP system. With the integrated capabilities of SAP FSCM, you can improve the efficiency of your accounts payable and accounts receivable functions with the goal of understanding how systems and teams work together to improve cash flow decisions across the enterprise.

  105. SAP web

    Cloud-based offering in SAP Cloud ALM that allows to plan data transitioning projects from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA providing end-to-end management of your digital blueprint. 

  106. Signavio

    SAP Signavio is a company that offers end-to-end business transformation solutions that serve the emerging practice of customer excellence (CEX). It was acquired by SAP in 2021. Its main product is Signavio Process Manager, a web-based business process modelling tool which will be part of SAP Cloud ALM. The tool enables us to proactively analyse, model, execute, learn, and improve business processes. 

  107. SAP MM

    SAP MM (Materials Management) is a module of the SAP ERP software package. Its field of application is procurement processing and inventory management. The coverage of SAP materials management includes all tasks within the supply chain. Some examples are consumption-based planning, disposition, supplier evaluation and invoice verification. 

  108. SAP QM

    SAP Quality Management (QM) is a module of SAP S/4HANA. The focus here is on supporting companies in the implementation and execution of quality control processes. One goal here is to avoid errors, continuously improve processes, and establish a sustainable quality assurance program. 

  109. SAP PP

    SAP PP is the production planning (PP) module and enables users to plan production based on both market demand and production capacity. PP also creates the plans for production, as well as for procurement and purchasing, thus ensuring that raw materials and semi-finished products are available for production as needed. 

  110. Scope

    In the context of Solution Documentation, the scope is a highlevel filter that allows an individual or a global view of only the relevant processes that are required at any given time. It originates from the idea of the project scope, which determines the contents of any certain project. (i.e. finance processes are part of a finance project scope, whereas HR processes may not be.) 
    The benefit is, you can avoid distracting information when working in the project. 

  111. S-user

    S-users are used for connecting SAP support and service portals that are connected to partners, customers and products. There are two different S-users – Technical S-user and Regular S-user –  Difference is that technical S-user is used to communicate between SAP System and SAP backbone only. 

  112. SGEN

    It stands for SAP Load Generator. A transaction that generate the ABAP loads of programs, function groups, classes and BSP applications. During the execution, system will be under heavy load. Most often it is used after ABAP upgrade and good practice is to execute it outside of working hours. 

  113. SMP

    SAP Mobile Platform (SMP) is a mobile application development platform from SAP, with a focus on business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-customer (B2C) applications. 

    SAP SMP supports users in creating and deploying mobile app, business-focused as well as customer-focused. In addition to develop new apps there is the possibility to customize existing apps. 

    In both cases, new app development and customization of existing apps, the platform can be on prem or a cloud environment.  

    SMP provides platform users with reusable components, drag-and-drop HTML5 apps, REST APIs, and reusable, customizable apps from several development partners. 

  114. SAP

    SAP stands for «Systems Applications and Products in Data Processing» and is a company from Germany as well its an ERP software application solution. 

  115. SKU

    Stock Keeping Unit is a unique identification number assigned internally to a single item of inventory. Typically used to track various products 

  116. sRFC

    sRFC: Performs synchronous communication  the communication partners wait until the communication is completed. Both when sending and when received waiting for a response from the communication partner. 

  117. Transport Domain Controller

    The system in which you can configure the TMS-Landscape as well it manages all the transport requests in his domain 

  118. ToC – Transport of Copies

    As a Functional Consultant or a Developer, you need to be able to move configurations or code changes to other SAP Environments ignoring dedicated transport routes. –> CTS  

    The CTS transport with automatically recorded changes can be called “Main Transport”.  

    Once you’re done saving the changes in the “Main Transport”, you will create a Transport of Copy (TOC) – which contains the same content as your “Main Transport”. You will then release the TOC only and move it to the intended SAP Environment.  

  119. TR – Transport Request

    As a Functional Consultant or a Developer, you need to be able to move configurations or code changes from the source system to the productive system. -> CTS -> TMS -> Piecelist

  120. Test Steps Parameter

    Certain parameters can be stored in a test step. This makes sense if the same test case is executed by different testers with different parameter values. Parameters can be: Company code, Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable, … 

  121. Technical Scenario

    A technical scenario is a group of technical systems working together in a characteristic way. Examples for system collaboration are mutual communication, working for a common business process, and sharing of common resources. A technical scenario is of a certain type («aspect» in the CIM model). It defines how this system collaboration is interpreted in the applications of SAP Solution Manager. 

  122. Test Step Designer

    Part of the Focused Build «Test Steps», which enhance the Test Suite. The Test Step Designer is a UI5 Design Time for creating Test cases with a lot of additional features (e.g. custom fields, Testparameters….) to improve the quality of Testings and increase the Tester experience.  

  123. Tag Management

    In the Tag Management app we can display all existing tags, both custom or delivered by SAP. 

    More specifically we can search for tag names and filter for tag creators and the different tag sources, 

    display the number of assignments of a tag, Create, rename and delete custom tags and Tag Groups. 

    We also can see the history of actions done in the application to see who have made changes in tags and when. With tags, we can conveniently group or connect objects, also tags help describing an object and makes sure that it can be easily found. As a recent change we can use cross search to search for Objects using Tags from SAP Cloud ALM Launchpad. 

  124. Transaction Type

    A transaction type in SAP refers to a predefined category or class of business transactions that are performed within the SAP system. It represents a specific type of activity or event, such as sales order, purchase order, goods receipt, invoice, or payment, and is associated with a unique transaction code. Each transaction type is designed to capture and process specific data and trigger the corresponding system functionalities and workflows required for that particular type of transaction. 

  125. Templates Tasks

    With Template Tasks existing tasks can be marked as templates. Now you can choose for newly created tasks whether they should be created from this template. In addition to the title, the description, subtasks and other attributes are also taken over. 

  126. Test Case Type

    The classification of a testable entity. A test case can be either manual or automated. 

  127. Tricentis Tosca

    Tricentis Tosca is a software testing tool that is used to automate end-to-end testing for software applications and it is developed by Tricentis. One of the key feature is model based automation powered by AI. Tricentis pioneered model-based testing in Tosca, and  now its being taken to the cloud as well. Traditional testing tools are scripted whereas the model-based test automation is a codeless approach which makes it easy to learn  and maintain. Tricentis Tosca supports Desktop, Web, API, Database, Browser and Mobile technology.  

    Tosca is part of the SAP Solution Extension since 2020 under the name SAP Enterprise Continuous Testing by Tricentis (ECT). 

  128. Taskstate

    In SAP Cloud ALM for Implementation you will find the Taskstate. The valid values for the State of a task can be «active» or «obsolete». Only if a task is «obsolete» the task can be fully deleted.  

    Do not confuse the state with the status attribute (Open, In progress, Locked, Done, Not relevant) anymore. «Not relevant» in this context means that a task is not relevant for this project phase right now, but may become relevant again later. 

  129. Test-Suite

    The Test Suite group in the SAP Solution Manager Launchpad serves as a central entry point to all functions for preparing, creating, managing and evaluating test plans, test scripts, test configurations, etc. 

  130. Tag Group

    Multiple tags can be grouped together into a Tag Group. It’s an optional property for a Tag. 

    If the tag belongs to a tag group, the tag name is displayed in the form <group>: <tag>. 

  131. Task List

    A framework with a tree structure for starting ABAP reports using standardized parameters and logging. In SAP Solution Manager versions 3.2 to 7.1 administered by transaction SCMA, in version 7.2 by the «Change Admin Cockpit».  

    It is the powerful engine of -> «ChaRM».  

    A Task List consists of three parts: «General Tasks» at the beginning and «General Completion Tasks» at the end of the tree, which are both system independent, and between these two groups there is a tree structured in transport tracks which offers for every SAP system of such a system landscape (source, target, production, stand-alone) a group of system dependent tasks.  

    Every ChaRM action is executed by a specialized task list report.  

    All task list reports follow the naming convention «/TMWFLOW/SCMA_<Task action>«. For example the task «Release Transport Request» belonging to the group of a source system is executed via report «/TMWFLOW/SCMA_TRORDER_RELEASE». 

    In SAP Solution Manager 7.2 every Task List is linked with at least one Cycle (-> «Change Cycle Types») or QGM Scenario (-> «QGM Q-Gate Management») which represents the UI component for the normal user. 

  132. TBOM

    Technical Bill Of Materials or in short TBOM. List of objects that are involved in a certain transaction is called a TBOM. For example, the elements are user interface, module pools, function modules or table contents that are generated dynamically or statistically. It is used by Business Process Change Analyzer (BPCA) comparing objects in transports to the objects in the target system’s TBOMs. Since they are assigned to an executable entity in a scenario, business process , or process step, we can make sure which parts of a solution documentation are affected by any changes. 

  133. tRFC

    tRFC: Performs asynchronous communication, the process becomes not blocked by waiting for the answer of the communication partner. Sending and receiving takes place instead staggered in time. 

  134. Tags

    Tags help us to flexibly organize our world and very helpful to efficiently organize and use digital data. 

    In SAP Cloud ALM you can tag the different entities like requirements, project tasks, user stories, notes, test cases and defects with one or more (!) tags. Additionally, there is also a central tag management. The tag functions for the feature will also be available in the future. 

  135. TAF

    The Test Automation Framework (TAF) is part of the SAP Solution Manager. It has several functions: creating test configurations and test scripts for automated tests, test data containers and system data containers. 

  136. User Management Engine (UME)

    UME provides centralized user management for all Java applications and can be configured to work with user management data from multiple data sources. 

  137. User Story

    A user story is a user need that must be met in order to achieve business value. It may or may not be associated with a requirement in SAP Cloud ALM. 

  138. UxMon

    Integrated tool in Solution Manager which monitors and evaluates the performance and availability of technical scenarios from multiple client locations in real time by simulating the behavior of users who access servers and runs business processes. In SAP Cloud ALM this functionality is covered by –> SUM. 

  139. WebDynpro

    SAP Web Application which follows the Model (Data Model), View (Presentation), Controller (Activities) paradigma. Started originally as Java WebDynpro, now existing mainly as ABAP WebDynpro. For example solman_setup is a huge collection of WebDynpros offering guided procedures. The naming similarity with the old SAP Gui -> Dynpro is just marketing. 

  140. Web Extend

    Web Extend is the SAP Emarsys data collection module, which tracks visitor interactions on your website and processes this input to serve validated data to various Emarsys products (such as Revenue attribution, the Automation Center, Smart Insight and Predict). 

  141. WRICEF

    Abbreviation of work flows, reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, and forms. It`s used for requirements that go beyond the scope of a customizing or configuration, and requires that components of a standard process are enhanced or that new components are developed and documented. 

    WRICEFs can be managed in the configuration library by setting the WRICEF as the Configuration Type. When documented as configuration units, those can efficiently be reused and assigned to other solution documentation elements.
